This week the LGBT group is meeting on Monday at lunchtime in Science 5. New and returning members are welcome. Bring your lunch.

Summer Ball – contracts and parent pay barcodes can be collected from Miss Taylor in ICT 4. A deposit of £20 must be paid by Friday 2 November and signed contracts handed back to Miss Taylor. If there are any issues making this first payment, please see Miss Taylor.

S5 & S6 pupils
If you have an interest in a career as a Social Worker, please see the details below:

“So, You Want to be a Social Worker?” will take place from 1.30pm until 4.30pm in the University of Edinburgh’s central campus on Friday 2nd November. Pupils will hear from social workers working within a variety of areas, about their “typical” days, as well as academic staff who will talk about the university course content. There will be discussion workshops and opportunities for pupils to get advice about applying to social work courses (e.g., entrance requirements, work experience, personal statements etc).

S1 Outward Bound Trip – sign up now!

To avoid disappointment S1 pupils should sign up for the Outward Bound 2019 trip as soon as possible. The closing date for sign up is only a week away – Friday 2nd November.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL PUPILS WHO RECEIVE MUSIC LESSONS:
Everyone will now have a slip telling them when their lesson is each week. You must collect this from the Music Department on the morning of your lesson. Please do this before the start of registration.
Tuesday: guitar, drums and woodwind;
Thursday: piano, brass and woodwind;
Friday: voice.

Alton Towers 2019
A reminder that any pupils who want to go on the Alton Towers trip must return the forms to Mr Gregor by Friday 2nd November.

The trip is open to all S4/S5/S6 pupils who have attendance of 85%+.

S1 Pupils Medical Forms and Medication
Any S1 pupils who have received medical forms please return them with any medication ASAP to Mrs Fraser (Welfare). If your child has a medical condition that requires medication for example Asthma, it is imperative that the appropriate medication /forms are handed into school.

Can all pupils who attended the Young Drivers Event at the Corn Exchange last Tuesday, please complete the following survey monkey link. The organisers are keen to get the views of young people so that they can improve the event each year.

S4- S6 Pupils – Important Dates for your Diary!

Interested in starting a course at Edinburgh College in 2019? Come along to the following Edinburgh campus open days in November and December to speak to teaching staff about the courses they offer, entry requirements, application advice and finding the right course for you.
22 November at Midlothian Campus
27 November at Sighthill Campus
29 November at Granton Campus
4 December at Milton Road Campus
3 – 7 pm

Staff will be on hand to give you guidance on funding, fees and student support during your time at college. You will also be invited to take a tour of the campus, including classrooms, workshops, libraries and social areas, giving you an idea of what it’s really like to be a student at Edinburgh College.

Alton Towers 2019
This trip is open to all S4-S6 with attendance over 85% and will take place on Friday 14th June 2019.  40 spaces are available, if there is more demand, then a selection process will take place.
