Outward Bound Trip 2017 – Important Information
If you are going on the Outward Bound trip in August, you need to complete and return both an EE2 form and an Outward Bound form. These were issued to most pupils, with a letter on Friday. The letter also contained details of an information evening for pupils, parents and carers which will be held on the evening of Tuesday 6th June. If you have still to get your letter and forms, then please see Mr Wyllie as soon as possible.

Hairdressing Opportunity:
Any pupils who would like a career in Hairdressing may be interested in the following opportunity. Gordon Wilson Hairdressing and Beauty are offering apprenticeships to school leavers starting now. The salon is offering full pay for successful applicants that is far higher than the average pay for this type of position. Successful applicants will work 5 days a week but one day will be in the salons hairdressing classroom. If you are interested please speak to Mr Whale.

Parent/Carers and Senior Pupils: Career Conversation invitation

Firrhill High School is hosting this event on Tuesday 30th May and Craigmount High School on Tuesday June 6th.  You are invited to either event.

The Career Conversation is aimed at young people, parents/carers, employers, school staff and practitioners and will explore careers, employability, and the increasing importance of creativity skills for young people and for Scotland’s future economic success.

The evening will follow the well-established, highly interactive and engaging ‘Creative Conversation’ format and will include presentations and a panel discussion to facilitate dialogue between parents/carers, schools and colleges and employers.

Refreshments and further conversation will follow until 8.00pm.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
The PE department are collecting Active Kids Vouchers again this year.  Please encourage parents/carers to take these when offered if they shop at Sainsbury’s.  Vouchers can be handed to your registration or PE teacher.

A total of £134.55 was raised from the Edinburgh food social truck.

Thank you to Amey for donating the full amount to the HFT department.

The Health Opportunities Team Gilmeron Health Drop In
The Health Opportunities Team Gilmerton health Drop-in is on every Wednesday evening between 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the Gilmerton Community Centre. The Drop in is a free and confidential service, where young people aged 12-25 can access advice, support and information on all health issues, including sexual health.  Pop in to say hi, join in the activities or stay to get some 1 to 1 advice – it’s your choice.
