Careers Event 2020
A very successful careers event took place at Gracemount High School on Thursday 9th January 2020.  Many thanks to all who attended.








 

























Lateness Strategy 2020 - Going Live on 17th FEB 2020
Punctuality is vital to getting a good start to the day and being successful.

If you are late 2x in the week without a plausible reason and your parent/carer has not contacted the school, then you will receive a 10 minutes detention at the start of lunch in PSE 2. in School.

If you do not turn up, then it will be carried forward to the next lunch for 15 minutes.  If you fail to attend this your guidance teacher will make contact with home and follow up.

London Dance Trip 2020
·       A reminder that there will be a meeting at break time on Wednesday in the PE Classroom. Everyone going to London must attend.
·        The third payment of £100 is due on Friday 31st January. Please see Miss Greig if there are 
       any issues with this.

Alton Towers 12th June 2020
A reminder that any S4-6 pupil wishing to attend the Alton Towers trip this year should return their note of interest and KIC form by next Friday 7th February.  An attendance of 85%+ is required.  See Mr Gregor if you require another letter.

LGBT Group
The LGBT group can come to science 5 every lunchtime with an official meeting being held on Tuesdays. New and returning members are welcome. Bring your lunch. Our focus over the next few weeks will be look at the school’s Equalities Policy.

Music Department
All instrumental lessons are running as normal. If you receive lessons in school, please make sure to check your time on the morning of your lesson and attend ALL lessons.

Music clubs for this term:
·         Keyboard Club (Monday lunch)
·         Rock Band (Tuesday after school)
·         Choir (Wednesday lunch)
·         Brass Group (Thursday lunch)
Come along or speak to one of the music staff if interested.

Music Awards will continue this term for anyone who is attending their instrument lessons and going “over and above” in class. Keep working hard and you could be rewarded each month.

Any S5 or S6 pupils who are considering Law as a future career, a great opportunity has arisen to attend a Legal Study and Careers Day on Tuesday 25th February at the Law Society of Scotland.

Attendance Matters – Aug 2019 – Nov 2019 Update 
Gracemount High School Attendance Target is striving for pupil to have 90%+ attendance. Currently 65% of our pupils have above 90% attendance, Great!  We need to work together to achieve our target of 70% to have an attendance figure of 90% and above.

Well done to all our 95%+ attendance – 43% of the school

Special mention to all those who have 100% - 13% of the school – You are AMAZING!!

Pupils who have 100% receive a Gold Award Certificate. 95%+ a Silver Award Certificate and 90+% Bronze Award Certificate.

Do you know what your child’s attendance is at school?
All s1-6 pupils who attended their PSE lessons prior to the holidays have been told their attendance figure and worked on target setting to improve this if needed

Did you know at the end of the school year if you have …
95% attendance = Ten whole days of school has been missed
90% attendance = Twenty whole days of school has been missed
85% attendance = 6 weeks or half a term of schooling has been missed and a possible referral to the Education Welfare Officer

Who can you contact if you are concerned about your child’s attendance?
